Commissioner Bryan Threadgill presents keys to the new 2018 Animal Control Truck to Animal Control Director Shawn Downs.
Over the last several years, Commissioner Bryan Threadgill has built an excellent relationship with a charitable foundation that is dedicated to providing a number of services to communities in need.
In working with the foundation, Commissioner Threadgill has been able to secure funding for the Animal Shelter expansion, medical care for the shelter, and adoption transports.
When Animal Control Director, Shawn Downs mentioned the mechanical problems his department was having with their 1999 Truck, which has almost 280,000 service miles, Commissioner Threadgill started searching for a solution.
Understanding the needs of the department, he identified a new 2018 Ford F-150 four-wheel drive that would meet their needs. With a MSRP of over $37,000, Commissioner Threadgill was able to negotiate a sales price of $25,998.50 for the new truck.
With an excellent deal in hand, he moved forward with a plan to secure funding.
Reaching out to the friends he made through his work with the Charitable Foundation, he was able to secure a donation for the purchase of the truck and replacement of the animal boxes, at no cost to the taxpayers of Meriwether County.
Director Downs expressed his appreciation of the work Commissioner Threadgill has done and continues to do for the citizens of Meriwether County.
