Singers, vendors invited for first Meriwether County Country Christmas extravaganza
A Christmas parade, tree lighting, singing, food, toy drive, a Live Nativity and a visit from Santa Claus are all part of Meriwether County's Country Christmas event planned Saturday, Nov. 24 starting 3 p.m. on the Courthouse Square in Greenville. A number of local companies and organizations are making this event possible. The cities of Gay, Greenville, Lone Oak, Luthersville, Manchester, Warm Springs and Woodbury are all joining in to present this Meriwether County holidaycelebration, which organizers hope will be an annual event to kick off the season. There will be seven specially decorated Christmas trees representing each of the seven cities in Meriwether County. The organizing committee is inviting church choirs -- both adult and children -- soloists, group singers, music ensembles and praise dancers to participate in this holiday extravaganza. The holiday festivities will include a Live Nativity, horse and buggy rides, live music, carolers and praise dancers along with face painting, crafts and a visit by Santa Claus for the kids. There will also be a toy drive, door prizes, vendors and refreshments. Space is limited, so reserve your spot as a vendor or entertainer. Call 770-468-5343 (Mary) or 678-378-2391 (Jennifer) no later than Aug. 31!
