Job Summary: This position is responsible for the general care and maintenance of all animals at the Meriwether County Animal Shelter. Clean animal kennels and cages, feed and water animals while monitoring their intake. Document animal temperament, behavior, and abnormalities. Walk animals to maintain their physical and mental health. Answer telephones, perform adoptions, work with public and other duties as assigned. Must have Certification at a minimum of Appraiser I or be able to complete training within 6 months of employment. Ability to learn and operate computer systems and software required, including Wingap and GIS. Knowledge and ability to use statistical calculations as required for the analyzation of data. Assist public with questions on property valuation and related tax questions as needed and other duties as assigned. Must be able to work indoors/outdoors with considerable walking, standing, climbing stairways, etc. Must be able to lift light to semi-heavy objects. Employer will conduct pre-employment screen.

Job Summary: This position is a training position for promotion and appointment to the position of Communications Officer I which involves radio dispatching and operating communication instruments and coordinating emergency communications for the county. The employee is responsible for making decisions based on established policies and procedures. Job Summary - this position is responsible for inspecting bridges, dams, highways, buildings, wiring, plumbing, electrical circuits, sewers, heating systems, foundations and structures using engineering skills to determine structural soundness and compliance with specifications, building codes, and other regulations. Must have current Combo Residential or Commercial Inspector Certification and a minimum of 5 years experience as an inspector. Must have appropriate driver's license required for position. Job Summary - this position performs skilled and specialized mechanical repair and maintenance including servicing diesel powered equipment. Welding plays an important role, along with skills and specialization in the welding field. Formal training or 5 years experience with road and bridge building maintenance, including at least one year of lead worker or supervisory experience. Sheriffs Office - Deputy Sheriff (Certified)
Position Summary: This is general law enforcement work responsible for protecting life and property within Meriwether County; enforcing traffic regulation, state laws and county ordinances; responding to emergency situations, citizens requests for assistance, and alarms; and conducting investigations in response to reported or discovered criminal activity. Work requires independent judgement discretion in difficult or unusual situations. Work involves personal danger.
Sheriff's Office - Detention Officer
Position Summary: Under General Supervision of the shift supervisor, a person in this position ensures security and protects property of the facility, completes the admission process of inmates, prevents escapes, controls behavior of inmates and protects inmates from each other. The incumbent must be diligent in maintaining an inmate count, prompt in dispensing medicine and be able to take personal property of inmates. The incumbent must also adhere to definite procedures established by the department to ensure that the inmate’s constitutional rights are observed. A person in this position does not supervise officers.
