ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT-FIRE DEPARTMENT 

Job Summary - This position is responsible for performance of a variety of administrative support functions such as, answering telephone calls, filing, competing paperwork and electronic forms, scheduling, interfacing with the public, and assisting with other assignments. Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Driver’s License. Employer will conduct a pre-employment screen.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT-CODES & ZONING

Job Summary - This position is responsible for the office functions, department communication, filing, maintenance of computer files, accepting and accounting for Codes/Zoning department receipts. This position must be able to work efficiently with minimal instruction or supervision. This position works under the supervision of the department Director. Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Driver’s License. Employer will conduct a pre-employment screen.

LABORER (PART-TIME)

Job Summary - This position is an entry job or temporary position for new hires joining the County work force. Workers in the labor pool are assigned to operating and service departments to assist with extra work load, cover absences and vacations, and supplement crews required to meet unusual changes in the elements such as heat, cold, rain, etc. Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Driver’s License. Employer will conduct a pre-employment screen.

PERSONAL PROPERTY APPRAISER

Job Summary – This position is responsible for locating and appraising personal property in order to assist with the development and documentation of the county tax digest and assisting the Chief Appraiser with the appraisal of real properties for the purposes of assessment, as needed. Must have a High School diploma or equivalent, and Appraiser I Certification or be able to obtain Appraiser I Certification within the first 6 months of employment. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Driver’s License. Employer will conduct a pre-employment screen. Permanent FT Position.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for responding to emergency scenes to perform fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue, hazardous material mitigation, and assist with other emergency situations that may arise.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for responding to emergency scenes to perform fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue, hazardous material mitigation, and assist with other emergency situations that may arise.  The Paramedic performs various patient care activities in the pre-hospital setting, in accordance with all rules and regulations set forth by the GA State Department of Public Health

Sheriffs Office - Deputy Sheriff (Certified)
Position Summary: This is general law enforcement work responsible for protecting life and property within Meriwether County; enforcing traffic regulation, state laws and county ordinances; responding to emergency situations, citizens requests for assistance, and alarms; and conducting investigations in response to reported or discovered criminal activity. Work requires independent judgement discretion in difficult or unusual situations. Work involves personal danger.


Sheriff's Office - Detention Officer
Position Summary: Under General Supervision of the shift supervisor, a person in this position ensures security and protects property of the facility, completes the admission process of inmates, prevents escapes, controls behavior of inmates and protects inmates from each other. The incumbent must be diligent in maintaining an inmate count, prompt in dispensing medicine and be able to take personal property of inmates. The incumbent must also adhere to definite procedures established by the department to ensure that the inmate’s constitutional rights are observed. A person in this position does not supervise officers.


HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
Job Summary: This position requires skill in the operation of heavy equipment machines. The employee is responsible for the safe and efficient operation with the ability to work to finish with accuracy. Work is performed in accordance with the instructions received from a Foreman and the employee is expected to carry out the assignments, free of direct supervision, except for more complicated jobs. The employee is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance on the equipment and to refer more serious problems to the supervisor at the first sign of a problem.
