Meriwether's Spring Great American Cleanup event is set for April 21, 2018. It will run 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Members of the Keep Meriwether Beautiful Committee met this week and set the date. KMB will be recruiting teams from schools, churches, civic clubs as well as individuals. There is no charge to participate, and each team may select the area of Meriwether County they with to clean. Teams can be as little as two people to as many as you can get to participate.
KMB will supply each team with auto litter bags, gloves, trash bags and t-shirts. Container sites will be located in each town and will be confirmed by the date of the event. All tires must be taken to the Meriwether County Public Works Department.
Volunteers are needed to man the container sites and to assist in placing large items along the side of the container so that trash bags can go in first. Meriwether County Public Works also assists with the container sites by manning them as well as helping to get everything into the container by the end of the day.
Registration forms will be available by March 1 and may be picked up at the Meriwether County Administration Building or may be emailed. Members of the committee will also have registration forms.
