Peach Recipe Contest returns for 2019 Peaches in the Pines Festival

Gather your entries for the Peach Recipe Contest returning with the 2019 Peaches in the Pines Festival June 8 at beautiful Lake Meriwether.
Entry is open in both “Sweet” and “Savory” categories with separate divisions for adults and youth. Recipes entered must feature peaches or peach products as ingredients.
The Fifth Annual Peaches in the Pines Festival presented by Meriwether County Chamber of Commerce will be held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at Lake Meriwether, 728 Lake Meriwether Rd., Woodbury, GA. Admission is $5 with youngsters under age 10 admitted free.
Recipe contest entrants must be amateurs or hobbyists. The contest fee is waived with $5 admission to the festival. Original recipes are expected, but prepared mixes, sauces, etc. may also be ingredients. Please clearly identify all brand names used.
A completed entry form must be submitted via email and postmarked by May 24, 2019. Recipes must be typed or printed clearly on an official form (copies acceptable). A separate page may be attached if additional space is needed.
Approval of entries will be based on originality, effective use of peaches, ingredient appropriateness and timely adherence to all contest requirements. Entrants will be notified of approval by May 31, 2019. All entries become the property of Peaches in the Pines Event Committee. First place recipes will be included in special publicity efforts by Peaches in the Pines.
The contest will be held Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Lake Meriwether. The finished product of approved entries with a copy of the typed or clearly printed recipe will be accepted at the central pavilion from 9:30 – 10:59 a.m. Judging will take place at 11 a.m. Awards presentation will be 12 noon in the pavilion. All participants are asked to attend.
Age division entries will be judged separately. Youth entries will not be judged against adults. Adult is defined as a person over 18 years of age. Youth entries are for those age 18 and under.
A participant may enter a recipe in both categories within their age division, but only one recipe per category. Example: an adult may enter one Adult: Sweet AND one Adult: Savory recipe.
Separate awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be presented in both divisions for each category. Awards will be valued at: 1st place - $50; 2nd place - $25; 3rd place - $10.
Completed and signed entry forms should be submitted by email to email@example.com or mailed to: Meriwether County Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 9, Warm Springs, GA 31830 and must be postmarked by May 24, 2019. A separate form must be completed and submitted for each entry.
The Peaches in the Pines Festival promises a day of family fun along the shores of Lake Meriwether. This year’s live entertainment features Aces and 8s band, which plays Southern Rock, and Country artist Adam Grant – and see a Rodeo trick roping demonstration.
The helicopter rides are returning, and there will be a host of children’s activities including pony rides, carnival rides and face painting (extra fee charged for some activities).
Shop a variety of unique arts and crafts, find Georgia grown produce, and enjoy a host of yummy food offerings including homemade peach ice cream from festival sponsor Fitzgerald Fruit Farms.
